Summit County Board of Health

Chris has been a resident of Park City and Summit County since 2006. He is a Civil/Environmental Engineer specializing in Wastewater Treatment processes, Landfill design, environmental assessments and the remediation of Superfund Sites. He joined the Board of Health in March of 2020 and did so because he believes that a healthy environment is foundational to every child’s physical, intellectual and emotional health and well-being.

For five generations Tonja’s family has called Summit County home. She was born and raised in Coalville where her family has owned and operated a cattle ranch in the south fork of the Chalk Creek. After attending college at Utah State University, with a focus on Communications, Tonja moved to Park City where she has worked in the sales and marketing sector of the hospitality and resort industry. Most of her employment history has been at Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort as Director of Sales, and most recently at Snowbasin and Sun Valley Resorts as Executive Director of Resort Sales.

Tonja has always been very active and involved in the community where she lives and works. She served three terms on the Eastern Summit County Planning Commission, two years as the chair. In addition, she served one and a half terms on the Coalville City Planning Commission, two years as chair, and on the Summit Land Conservancy Board and Executive Board. Tonja served as Vice Chair of the Summit County Open Space Advisory Board, and three terms on the Summit County Restaurant Tax Advisory Board, two years as chair. Finally, she served on the Board and Executive Board of the Park City/Summit County Chamber.

Tonja, along with her husband and daughter, have had the opportunity to live in various areas throughout the county including Park City, Kamas, Oakley, and, ultimately, returning to her hometown of Coalville where they reside on Chalk Creek Road.

Ilyssa moved to Summit County in 2012 from Los Angeles with her husband and two children (now ages 20 and 23). She is a board-certified diagnostic radiologist (MD) with subspecialty training in women’s imaging. She also has a master’s degree in public health (MPH). She has a strong interest in health promotion and disease prevention and the role of nutrition and physical fitness in achieving these objectives. One of her highest priorities as a board member is to ensure equity in the way we help our diverse community maximize their health and wellness.

Dorothy and her husband have lived in Summit County for over 27 years, raising three now adult children. During her time living in Summit County, she has made the daily commute to Salt Lake County working for the Salt Lake County Health Department for 34 years. She joined the Board in 2014 to bring lessons learned from her work to Summit County as we navigate ways to balance growth with the preservation of health and the environment. She believes that a strong and nimble public health system is foundational to the health of a community and knows that the board of health is instrumental to the department’s important work.

Chris has lived in Summit County his entire life. He is a fifth-generation farmer/rancher. His passion for environmental protection is important to him because he lives off of the land and knows how the mismanagement of uses can affect us all. He previously served on the Eastern Summit County Planning Commission for 7 years and currently serves on the Kamas Conservation Board.

Heidi Gordon has a degree in Anthropology and English from the University of Utah and has worked for the past 16 years as the Acquisitions and Developmental Editor for Shadow Mountain Publishing. For the past six years, she has enjoyed living outside of Coalville on the Chalk Creek with her husband and a menagerie of animals. She loves to hike, bike, kayak, and camp—and really anything that can be done outside.
